Jeremiah 26:3 NET Bible Maybe they will pay attention and each of them will stop living the evil way they do. If they do that, then I will forgo destroying them as I had intended to do because of the wicked things they have been doing.

Jeremiah 26:13 NET Bible

But correct the way you have been living and do what is right. Obey the LORD your God. If you do, the LORD will forgo destroying you as he threatened he would.

Jeremiah 26:19 NET Bible

King Hezekiah and all the people of Judah did not put him to death, did they? Did not Hezekiah show reverence for the LORD and seek the LORD's favor? Did not the LORD forgo destroying them as he threatened he would? But we are on the verge of bringing great disaster on ourselves."

When I was growing up as a child and when I was growing up as a Christian, I was taught that "Got is gonna get ya!" phrase. People told me that what I sow, I will reap.

It is true that what you sow, you will reap. It is true when you do something bad and when you do something good. But how can I change when I did something wrong?

I can't change the damage, but God can. How can I approach God in the mess I, myself, created? Using a simple formula, so to speak.

REPENT - ask God to forgive me. Ask Him to help me never do it again.

RENT - repenting before God doesn't mean that I do this, He helps me and I go do it again. This is where the prophets were telling us rent your hearts and not your garments. Take your heart to God and give your heart to Him

RECEIVE - this means that as simple as it is, you do receive His forgiveness and you do expect Him to turn around your situation.

The formula is so simple. But so many are missing out on it. They walk circles around and round. They will cry, whine, do anything else, but repent, rent and receive.

As you read Jeremiah 26 - the prophet from Old Testament, you can see here how loving our God is. And then, all these people were living under Old Testament: eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth. Then, God was all mercy and grace. Rarely people saw mercy in God, people like David, Isaiah, Jeremiah did.

How much more do we have with Jesus? When He already performed it all on the cross for you and for me? You know what it takes? It takes just a few minutes. Oh, you are ashamed... or you are lost, or you don't know or afraid of God's reaction. Hear me now: get rid of what you think and do what the Word offers you to do.

REPENT, RENT, RECEIVE!
