The Choice of God

1 Thessalonians 1:4 NIV For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you

This scripture tells us a very plain and straight truth. God chose you. God chose me.

All of us had situations in life, when we wanted to be chosen. Many years ago, in 1995, back in post Soviet Russia, I had a chance to participate in FLEX/FSA program. I was just 15 years old, a student in linguistic's special school, in the small town on the Black Sea coast. I was even afraid to dream, that I could be chosen. Yes, we had to go through testing and interviews. Many students from my school and all over past Soviet Union republics were entering the race. Many knew English better than I did.

I remember the day, it was April 12th, when the teacher walked into our classroom, it was English, and she announced that I passed all the tests and I was granted the chance to go to USA for a year as an exchange student! Can you imagine an opportunity that it opened for me? I didn't see much in myself, I didn't speak out my dreams, but deep down on the inside, I was hoping.

Long story short. This trip to USA gave me a lot more chances. I learned English and spoke English excellent. I was able to go to one of the best universities in Russia. I had a lot of open doors.

The door that led me to hear about Jesus, was also orchestrated by God, through that trip. Because I spoke English, I was invited to work for an American company, where I met

my husband. It was my husband, who brought Christ into my life. He shared with me about King David, he told me about God's love. Mainly he was very different from all the men I ever met in my life, my husband treated me with such respect, when we started working together, my heart was melted.

Today, almost 17 years into our marriage, I can tell you that when I was chosen as a participant of FLEX program, I had no idea what it would open for me.

Today, I want to encourage you, that because God chose you, He will bring you to Him. He will orchestrate events in your life, chances, choices, people, connections. Because His Word is truth and the only power that can do miracles, and His Word says that He has chosen you, that means you are chosen!

You are chosen! Lift you head and lift your hands in worship. You are chosen, you are loved and you are HIS!
